ANALISIS STRATEGI DINAS LINGKUNGAN HIDUP KOTA MEDAN DALAM MENGOPTIMALKAN PERAN GENERASI Z UNTUK MEWUJUDKAN TATA KELOLA LINGKUNGAN (ENVIRONMENTAL GOVERNANCE) YANG BERKELANJUTAN

Abstract

The growing complexity of environmental issues is prompting local governments to formulate strategies for achieving sustainable environmental governance. One approach that can be taken is to optimize the role of Generation Z as agents of environmental change, given their their adaptibility to technology, creativity and active engagement in digital media. However, the involvement of Generation Z in environmental programs in the City of Medan remains suboptimal and has not been systematically integrated into government policies.

The study aims to analyze the strategies of the Medan City Environmental Agency in optimalizing the role of Generation Z as agents of environmental change. The study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations amd documentation, followed by analysis through data reduction, data presentation and drawinf conclusions.

The results indicate that the City of Medan Environmental Agency has engaged Generation Z through environmental campaignhs, social actions, public education and collaborations with schools, universities and communities. However, the strategies implemented remain general in nature and have not yet been specifically focused on Generation Z as a strategic group in environmental governance. Furthermore, Generation Z involvement is still limited to participatory aspects and has not yet been fully integrated into the planning and decision making process.
